A busy end to a fruitful year for our club
HELLO everyone, welcome to another column by the Rotary Club of Chinchilla. Can you believe it is December already?
There was no dinner meeting held last week but our members were busy working in the community.
Firstly, we did a barbecue for the Christmas Sale at the ADRA Op Shop in Railway St.
Then last Tuesday we staffed the bar for the “Stanbroke” Christmas Party.
Our members also assisted with catering at the breakfast event for the Melonfest committee with the BIG unveiling of the BIG Watermelon.
This was a very busy morning with quite a few turning up to be a part of the announcement.
It is great to see Chinchilla has been recognised in this way.
This week we will be holding our Rural Urban Night, which will also be a partners’ night and where we will be awarding the winners of our barley competition.
I will give you the names of our winners and details in our next column.
There has been a slight change to our end-of-year calendar, with our Christmas party now being held on December 11 instead of earlier in December.
Then on December 13 we will be out in force to cater at the CCCI Street Christmas Party.
The street party is usually a very busy night and Rotarians will be out in force to supply our great burgers to all the late-night shoppers.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Our club will go into recess after the street party and will hold a couple of informal get-togethers in January before commencing the new year in late January.
This column will also go into recess for that period but I will be here next week, all going well.
Well, it is time for me to say goodbye for the week.
Hope to catch up again next week.
Please stay safe and remember: “You are not too old and it is not too late.”
