A WOMAN has been awarded life membership by the St George Pastoral and Agricultural Association to honour her years of hard work and dedication.

Last week, Delia Hams received the award after retiring as chief pavilion steward of the St George Show, a role she held for 11 years. Mrs Hams said she was delighted to win the award. “It was quite a surprise actually but, yeah, very pleased and I feel honoured to receive it,” she said. “And it’s really nice to think that the committee thought I deserve recognition for my service.”

St George Pastoral and Agricultural Association president Susan Higgins said Delia’s service could not go unnoticed. “The life membership was given to Delia for her years of dedicated service to society,” she said. “A lot of people don’t work for one committee for that long and take on roles like she has.

“She is always willing to help everyone and anyone who has a question she’ll jump in and help out.”
