Generous stranger gives this Christmas
CHRISTMAS was a little more merry for one family this year thanks to an ADRA hamper and a generous stranger.
The ADRA Op Shop in Chinchilla ran a Christmas draw this month for a hamper of food goodies worth $150.
As part of the draw, customers received a ticket for every $10 they spent.
Shop supervisor Paul Anderson said the draw had equated to about $1000 spent all up (100 tickets).
“It was an idea we came up with earlier in the month, we can’t actually have a raffle within this organisation, so we put together the hamper,” he said.
When Chinchilla police officer James Leahy chose the winning ticket, he couldn’t have made a better selection.
“The lady who won it actually comes from Roma,” Mr Anderson said.
“She purchased a treadmill from us last weekend and she was entitled to many tickets. We gave them to her and she said ‘no put them back in and give it to a needy family’, which is now something we really can do that we’re very happy about.”
ADRA is closed for Christmas, but will reopen on January 8. In the meantime donations can be dropped off at 74 Zeller St.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS: Poice officer James Leahy and ADRA store manager Dom Chiappalone.
