New Year, new town spirit
IF YOU, like me, are not a new year’s resolution type, then perhaps I can interest you in a different type of promise for 2019.
Instead of pledging to indulge less or work out more, why not pledge yourself to a worthy local cause?
Chinchilla and surrounding townships are bursting with great community organisations and clubs who are always looking for an extra set of hands.
The Chinchilla Scouts, Drought Angels and the Motocross Club are all keen for some new, friendly faces to join them this year and if none of these sound up your alley, why not create your own community orientated club?
And you don’t have to join a group to show your support. Attending any events that are of interest to you or your family is just as important.
Monday night’s New Year’s festivities proved there is a huge demand for local events and when locals show their support it inspires others to create more fun-filled events.
With Melon Festival just around the corner there’s no better time to get behind your local groups and support this great little town in 2019.
I urge everyone to try and attend at least one or two events in the region this year, with so much on offer you simply can’t go wrong.
The Chinchilla Motocross Club is looking for a new club president and vice-president as well as a number of unofficial positions.
The club will hold its AGM on Saturday, January 12 at 6pm at the Chinchilla RSL. Everyone is welcome.
