Colin Farrell plays rookie hitman Ray, who along ith fellow assassin Ken (Brendan Gleeson) is ent to hole up in the medieval Belgian city of Bruges after a job in London goes wrong. Ken wants to see the sights, Ray wants to see the pub, but their trip becomes anything but a holiday when their vengeful boss (a cockney Ralph Fiennes) hows up. This left-field gem throws the kitchen nk and more at the screen, and, improbably, akes it stick. It’s a devastatingly funny black comedy, a wry examination of the nature of tourism, and an affecting character study all in one. Add plenty of smart dialogue, surreal Tarantino-esque digressions, and the beautiful backdrop of Bruges itself, and you’ve got a cult classic.
