Mu­seum set to mark 48 years

THE Miles His­tor­i­cal Vil­lage Mu­seum has been around since 1971 and will this week cel­e­brate its 48th an­niver­sary.

Mem­bers of the com­mu­nity and sur­round­ing re­gions are in­vited to join in the an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions to be held on Satur­day.

It will be a fun day for the whole fam­ily.

There will be a va­ri­ety of live demon­stra­tions on of­fer in­clud­ing black­smithing, pit saw­ing, lap­idary, op­er­a­tional en­gines and mo­tors.

Make sure you find a friend and bring them along as well be­cause this year the in­au­gu­ral Vil­lage Vin­tage Chal­lenge will be held, re­quir­ing a team of peo­ple to part­ner up for some fun ac­tiv­i­ties.

Don’t hes­i­tate if you haven’t found any­one yet be­cause there’s still time. You can regis­ter your in­ter­est on the day.

It’s an ex­cit­ing day with many other new items be­ing added to the pro­gram, in­clud­ing the Vil­lage Has Tal­ent quest.

Reg­is­tra­tions are now open for ei­ther in­di­vid­u­als or groups.

If you fancy your­self as a creative per­son, then this day is also for you.

You can en­ter­tain pa­trons with your tal­ent by show­cas­ing a skit/song poem or dance; all en­tries are to have a vin­tage/ Aus­traliana theme in keep­ing with our his­tor­i­cal vil­lage.

There will be plenty of fun ac­tiv­i­ties to keep the kids en­ter­tained – try your hand at good old-fash­ioned mar­bles, hop­scotch and much more.

A choco­late wheel will be run­ning all morn­ing and try your luck at the Poddy Poop Lotto.

The Red Rose Café will serve up a de­li­cious morn­ing tea; drinks and ice-creams will also be avail­able to buy.

The event or­gan­is­ers look for­ward to see­ing you all.

Ac­tiv­i­ties start at 9am and fin­ish at noon how­ever feel free to stay for the af­ter­noon and en­joy a leisurely stroll around the nu­mer­ous build­ings and his­tor­i­cal col­lec­tions on hand.
