Museum set to mark 48 years
THE Miles Historical Village Museum has been around since 1971 and will this week celebrate its 48th anniversary.
Members of the community and surrounding regions are invited to join in the anniversary celebrations to be held on Saturday.
It will be a fun day for the whole family.
There will be a variety of live demonstrations on offer including blacksmithing, pit sawing, lapidary, operational engines and motors.
Make sure you find a friend and bring them along as well because this year the inaugural Village Vintage Challenge will be held, requiring a team of people to partner up for some fun activities.
Don’t hesitate if you haven’t found anyone yet because there’s still time. You can register your interest on the day.
It’s an exciting day with many other new items being added to the program, including the Village Has Talent quest.
Registrations are now open for either individuals or groups.
If you fancy yourself as a creative person, then this day is also for you.
You can entertain patrons with your talent by showcasing a skit/song poem or dance; all entries are to have a vintage/ Australiana theme in keeping with our historical village.
There will be plenty of fun activities to keep the kids entertained – try your hand at good old-fashioned marbles, hopscotch and much more.
A chocolate wheel will be running all morning and try your luck at the Poddy Poop Lotto.
The Red Rose Café will serve up a delicious morning tea; drinks and ice-creams will also be available to buy.
The event organisers look forward to seeing you all.
Activities start at 9am and finish at noon however feel free to stay for the afternoon and enjoy a leisurely stroll around the numerous buildings and historical collections on hand.
