THE NEW ESCORT BODYSHELLS

Classic Ford - - CF TECH -

It was only a matter of time before someone would made the massive leap in investment and produce new Escort shells — and they have been available for a couple of years now. And it’s pretty obvious that MotorsportTools are basing their OTS shells on these, since they are great value at £6999, which includes bonnet, boot and hung doors. These are supplied in etch-coat primer and are ready for you to do your thing.

These shells are meant primarily for just the purpose that Carwyn’s putting them to — rally car reshelling. They do need some work, but even a brand-new shell from Ford (if it ever became available) wouldn’t simply be ready for paint. You can’t whack on a coat of top coat and fit it up — with anything, there will be plenty of fettling to attend to and these shells are no different.

What they are absolutely perfect for though is to be shipped to the fabrication shop to have the various panels — which MotorsportTools keep in stock — to convert the standard shell into a Group 4-spec, either Historic as here to take a BDG engine and ZF gearbox, or Modern, to accept a Cosworth, Duratec, XE and so on, with more options to follow.
