BUILDER: BARRY WILLIAMS FROM: UK
Planned spec: 1660 Crossflow, bike carbs, 105E axle
What’s the story: “I’m building this 100E for a friend of mine,” reveals Barry, “and I’m almost at the end of what we’ve Christened the Frankinpop.”
“It was completely standard when it drove into my garage, and the plan was to keep the original look on the outside — the bodywork is great with just a few age-related bumps and knocks, and that rusty patina’d look. The car had all its running gear removed and the bulkhead altered and a Capri tunnel grafted into accept the 1660 Crossflow on bike carbs, along with a five- speed ‘box. The rear end is Anglia 105E while the front features Escort struts converted to coil- overs with top adapters to fit into the 100E shell, along with an Escort crossmember and steering rack.
“The car is back on its wheels and running — it’s just had a trip to the rollers to get engine running nicely and will be MoT’d imminently, It’s never intended to be the shiniest thing on the block — it was always meant to be a bit rough-looking around the edges — just for fun!”
100E looked like a great base for Barry to work with.
Whole family was roped into the build. Hot Crossflow now fitted.
