Planned spec: restored shell, 2- litre Pinto, uprated suspension
What’s the story: “This van had been in dry storage for 16 years before I made a start on it,” says Terry. “I have collected 90 per cent of the parts for the restoration including a 2- litre Pinto in need of a rebuild, and a four- speed out of a 2- litre Capri.”
“First thing first though, I need to repair the shell — the driver’s floorpan is shot, so I have cut it out ready to let in a new panel, but other than a bit of surface rust here and there it’s really very solid for its age, and I have a brand- new wing still in packaging to go on. I have also removed the battery tray as I was going to have battery inside the van, but I am in two minds at present whether to reinstate it.
“The van was originally white but it has since been blue, then white, then blue, then white and I’m now going back to blue again!
“Sadly, I have four or five other projects to complete first, one of them being the new garage that I’m building around the van at present before I can really get to grips with this project!”
Van needs the usual A-pillar repairs. Pinto will be rebuilt and refitted.
