Mk1 Cortina
BUILDER: JAMES FERN FROM: UK
Planned spec: stripped and caged shell, NA Cosworth YB, Quaife ’box, LSD
What’s the story: We’re suckers for a Pre-Aeroflow Mk1 Cortina (well, Simon is...) and it looks like James is too, with this street racer project that’s getting a pretty comprehensive spec of goodies.
So underneath that classic two- door exterior finished in Dove Grey and wearing Compomotive split-rims, you’ll find a normally-aspirated Cosworth YB engine running individual throttle bodies ( ITBs), backed up by a Quaife close-ratio four- speed ’box (based on the Type E casing), Blackline LSD in the English axle, while inside James has opted for some classic lowback buckets on custom frames — and yes, this is all homebuilt, including the roll cage, and even the gearknob!
“The build is still in progress, but it’s shaping up nicely,” reckons James. You bet it is!
