What’s the story: “This car had been stripped down by the previous owners as it was going to be rallied,” reckons Kris, “but they came across a pre-prepared Group 4 shell and used that instead — their loss, my gain! A good bit of the welding and underseal stripping had already been done, but as with any old Ford there is still a fair bit to do — some welding in the front footwells, around the rear windows, the wing rails need some work and then it will be time to fit all the front end for good.”
“I intend to build it into a road-rally spec so that it looks and goes like a rally car but still has some creature comforts! It will have 13 inch wheels and Tarmac arches to cover the 52 inch Atlas axle. I am intending to slot a Zetec turbo into the bay, and am going for a very clean/ minimal look. Colour? I haven’t quite decided as a Mk2 can really pull off any colour!
