ARCHIVE DVDS From £8 Dustbin Films
Jim Wilkie of the Dustbin Film Collection collects discarded 16 mm documentary and industrial film footage typically from the 1930s through to the 1970s, and then laboriously transfers it to digital, making subsequent copies available on DVD. Amongst his long-forgotten finds are two Ford-related films — a Ford Touring Film from 1939 featuring a Ford 8 Saloon journeying across the south coast of the UK, while the second documents a Ford sale trip in 1965 to Sochi on the Black Sea in Russia featuring the then-new D-Series trucks plus a Corsair and R-Series coach. Being taken from old film stock, the quality isn’t great and they’re often without sound but they’re fascinating to watch. Jim’s archive is huge and there are many more films to recover.
