SIMON H’S CAR OF THE SHOW
This retro-looking drag car posting 10-second quarters caught my eye and for good reason. “It’s a tube-frame chassis car, originally built in Hungary,” says Owen Forrest. “My Dad and I got it for a bit of fun while my ’67 Mustang is coming together. It’s powered by a WindsorV8 bored to 408ci, and makes around 500 bhp.We had a 150 shot of gas but the track wasn’t great. I’m expecting to go 9.90 before the gas.”
The Nankang Tyre Challenge proved popular, with David Datoo going home with quickest time of the day. Colin Dowling’s Zetec turbo’d Escort quietly awaits another run up the strip. Notchback Mustang looked and sounded great.
