SUCCESS STORY
HISTORY OF THE 105E
Launched on September 3, 1959 the Anglia 105E was available as a two-door saloon and, from 1961, an estate, van and pick-up. The saloon car featured a novel inclined rear window designed to keep the rain off and based on the design of the American Mercury and Lincoln models. Power came from a brand-new 997cc four-cylinder engine known as the Kent. The 1200cc Anglia Super model arrived in September 1962 and was available with duo-tone paint. The cheapest Anglia was the Standard, which had no chrome body trim, a steel slatted grille and basic interior. Deluxe models, like our feature car, sported a chromed side strip and rear light surrounds, and full-width chrome grille. Top model was the Super with twin chrome stripes on the side strips, coloured roof and side flash and a better interior. The 105E production totalled 1,083,960 and ended in November 1967.
