Nottinghamshire-based Montescort (0115 9654329, http://montescort.com) started when Kevin and Chris, who first met competing against each other on rallies, decided to go into business. “Both being old Ford nuts we started out importing Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts from South Africa, you could find them with great bodywork,” remembers Kevin. “We brought back four and they flew out of the door, so we soon went back for more. After a few years it became far harder to find decent cars, so we started to concentrate more on the restoration side of things. I tend to do the mechanical jobs while Chris handles the bodywork.We do anything classic Escort-related from fitting newer engines to full nut-and-bolt restorations and we still have time for a bit of rallying, I’ve got a Mk2 Monte Carlo car (above) and Chris campaigns a Mk1 BDA. My wife says I don’t go to work — I go to play!”
