Typical mistakes
A long line of solder is not flexible, unlike wiring, so it can easily fracture and break the connection, especially if the wire moves.
A large, untidy blob of solder has a greater chance of falling off than a small amount. Less is often better.
Keep your soldering iron’s tips clean by removing dirt and solder with abrasive paper. Some soldering irons include a sponge to wipe off excess solder.
