ENGINE

Classic Ford - - CF BUYER -

Signs of a terminally tired engine are noisy rocker gear, high oil consumption, heavy breathing and blue exhaust smoke. A neglected cooling system can give rise to head gasket failure so look for signs of hot running. The gasket most commonly blows between cylinders two and three, but it can often be avoided with a cheap fix of replacing the core plugs and blasting out the waterways.
