A surprise 1-2-3 win for the classic Fords on this popular and long-running historic rally deep in the heart of the (snowy) Ardennes Forest in Belgium, featuring Escorts, Anglias, Sierras... and more Escorts.

“SOME 51 ESCORTS, SIERRAS AND 105Es TOOK PART IN 2019”

The Legend Boucles at Bastogne deep in the heart of Belgium’s Ardennes forest is an event that by far surpasses a traditional motorsport rally. The Friday brought an enormous crowd to the centre of Bastogne, for an autograph session and a display of more than 300 cars entered. Unique!

Saturday was shared between classification sections spread between the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg, and on Sunday the Legend Boucles took on another dimension, with a series of timed sections in the heart of the Luxembourg forests thanks to a special stage of more than 40 km.

Following the victory of Frenchman, Bryan Bouffier in 2018 in an Escort RS1800, the international competition was just as intense on this year’s event. No less than 51 Escorts, Sierras and Anglias guaranteed a new Battle OfThe Bulge for the classic cars divided into the Legend, Challenger and Classic categories. On stage 14 former WRC driver, Mikko Hirvonen took over the lead from local hero, Fred Caprasse and both

managed to offer a one-two for Christophe Jacob’s Escort Mk2 Rallying Solutions team.Third place went to Adrian Fernémont in another Mk2 and Fords came home in the 17 first places with no less than 10 Escorts.

If you missed the event, check out the photos and make sure you attend the 2020 rally.
