JOHN MORGAN

CAR: ANGLIA 105E

-

Spec: hillclimb-prepped, 2-litre BDG, coil-overs, five-linked

There were a few familiar sights around the ShelsleyWalsh paddock, but one car that was creating quite a stir was a 105E in a distinctive colour scheme. On closer inspection this was no simple Anglia. John showed us under the bonnet where a well-specced BDG lived, and at the rear a five-linked axle complete with coil-overs and a Gripper diff. John is no stranger xxtxoxaxxserious hillclimber as he told us of how he used to compete in both an Escort Cosworth and a Bastos-liveried Sierra Cosworth, but it was a Millington-powered Mk2 Escort which made way for the 105E.TheAnglia was quite the crowd pleaser with its ferocious induction roar and John not being scared to smoke up the tyres and properly go for it on the hill.A brave man indeed as he told us of how although it has all the usual Escort parts, the short wheelbase made it quite a lot snappier than it’s more commonly-used big brother!
