-

Millions of pounds worth of Aston Martins changed hands in the 15th annual Bonhams Aston Martin Sale at Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell on 17 May. Almost fifty cars – plus a fascinating collection of Aston Martin-related automobilia – went under the hammer. Sales totalled £8.7m, with highlights of the day including the world record price at auction of the 1970 Aston Martin DBS featured in the television show The Persuaders! With the addition of buyers’ premium and taxes, it sold for £533,500. Also impressing was a 1963 Aston Martin DB5 Sports Saloon project in need of full restoration, which sold for £393,500 – almost five times the £60,000-£80,000 estimate.

Paul Spires, General Sales Manager at Aston Martin Works, said: “The Bonhams auction weekend has once again more than lived up to expectations. With many exceptional sports cars sold, it’s clear that Bonhams’ Aston Martin Sale here at Newport Pagnell is, more than ever, a key fixture of the classic car world.”

James Knight, Bonhams Group Motoring Director, said: “As ever the day was tremendous, with both Bonhams and Aston Martin Works ensuring this was once again one of the highlight sales on the motoring calendar.
