KEI SERIES

Q: I recently tried a Suzuki Cappuccino and thought it was great fun... like the spirit of my old Midget but without the BL bits. Are they all grey imports though? And if so, is that really a problem?

A: No, the Cappuccino was officially sold here by Suzuki from 1993 until 1995 and its retail price of £11,995 put it head to head with warm hatches like the Peugeot 106XSi and Metro GTi but still a fair bit cheaper than the MX-5. These Kei cars are great fun though and their cult appeal explains why many more have since been grey-imported from Japan. Because it was officially imported, the Cappuccino is one of the better Kei cars for parts support and apart from body rust, they’re a practical ownership prospect with a bomb-proof engine. Don’t worry at all about buying a grey import.
