Q: Has BMW ever made boat engines? I was in a boatyard recently and I’m sure I saw an engine with the logo on it. It was a straight-six so it would have been feasible. Or had someone just used an old car engine?

A: Yes, a marine version of the M30 straight-six petrol was made called B220Z and good for 190 bhp. BMW Marine GmbH also made 10 different diesel engines.
