What’s hot and what’s not in the world of classic motoring.

On the morning of Friday, November 9, the doors will open for this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with Discovery at Birmingham’s expansive National Exhibition Centre. The organisers are claiming that this year’s show will be bigger than ever, with an estimated floor area equal in size to 18 soccer pitches.

More than 3000 vintage and classic cars, as well as a large number of historic motorcycles and scooters are expected to be showcased at the NEC and headline sponsors Lancaster Insurance will be setting the scene with their ‘ Lancaster Cars’ exhibit in Hall One by taking visitors through a journey highlighting the evolution of old to new. Also taking pride of place on the Lancaster Insurance stand will be the prize Golf GTI that’s been regularly featured in Classics Monthly and Lancaster staff will be on hand to explain how to enter the draw to win this superbly presented classic VW.

The show will once again be featuring the Discovery live stage with Wheeler Dealers Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead, while over 300 car clubs ranging from the A40 Farina Club to the Yugo and Zastava Club will be decorating their stands to fit in with the event's ‘Built to Last’ theme. Trade stands and a massive autojumble 'village' area will offer a haven for anyone seeking parts for a winter restoration and during the event Silverstone Auctions will be hammering away more than 100 very collectible cars and a selection of motoring ephemera.

Members of the Sporting Bears will be out in force providing charity rides in their dream cars and Meguiar’s Club Showcase will be displaying ‘the best of the best’. The final of Lancaster Insurances 'Pride of Ownership' competition will see the top three owners receive their winning trophies at some point during the show. New for this year will be a range of what the organisers are describing as very ‘special displays’ in Hall Eight and the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs are promising their biggest ever display of what will be a very diverse collection of vehicles For more details of what’s happening at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show between November 9-11, including advanced ticket information, visit www.necclassicmotorshow.com
