Owner’s Q&A

-

Why do you like this car so much?

I really appreciate the W108’s fuss-free lines and the silky smooth V8. It’s a joy to drive, even though it does cost a lot to run.

What sort of reaction does the car get when it’s out and about?

It certainly gets a lot of attention, although I’ve owned it for such a long time now, I tend to forget what people are staring and pointing at!

What are you most proud of?

All of it really, although it is nice to imagine who’s travelled in the car during the four years Ringo Starr owned it.

Do you remember what the hardest part was to find?

Definitely. It was locating a new cable for the electrically operated sunroof, although the chrome cover plates for the front seat hinges are proving just as elusive.

Would you ever swap your SE for another classic?

Not really, although if I was to buy another classic it would be a W107 SL. But don’t tell my wife, as another restoration could end in divorce (only joking)!
