To-do list
• Landy doors now sound but the hinges are shot
• Another item to track down quickly
• Start fitting body panels onto the Land Rover’s chassis
• Purchase the mechanical components needed to get the Landy roadworthy
THOUGHT OF THE MONTH
It’s funny that components you think of as completely serviceable at the beginning of a restoration can become too poor to use as the rest of the car improves. The door hinges for the Land Rover had been placed in my ‘re-usable’ pile – as opposed to the ‘eBay’ or ‘throw in the skip’ piles. Strangely, as the doors themselves moved from scruffy to presentable, the hinges no longer made the grade. Only new, tight hinges are going to be good enough now!
