Contributor Mike Renaut was attracted by the sight of a BMW 1602 next to the gate of J Jones Motor Spares near Devizes, Wiltshire ( 01380 723484) and stopped in for a closer look. Among some more modern cars, he found an impressive number of classics. Many had parts removed, but still retain spares of use to enthusiasts.

No decent scrapyard is complete without a Morris Minor, and we will take a bet that it was woodworm that took this Traveller off the road. There were also more welded repair patches making up the front inner wings than we could count.

With all the badges missing we’ll have to assume that the number plate is correct and that the Jaguar is indeed an XJ12. Most of the panels are at least lightly damaged and the interior is complete but – with a missing rear window – open to the elements. It’s fair to say this Triumph 2000 has been standing for a while and rust has nibbled away at every corner. The engine is missing but, judging by the radiator poking out of the bootlid, may well be in the boot. The grille and headlights look in good shape, along with a novelty wooden front bumper…

You might just get a decent bootlid, one rear light and, if you’re really lucky, a bonnet from this 1973 Vauxhall Viva. The 1256cc engine appeared to still be in place but we couldn’t tell how much was left. The rest of the bodywork is likely dented beyond repair.
