2002 BMW Z3M Coupé – £60,750

We’ve observed that S54 values have gone ballistic in the last few years, and the hammer price of this one reflects that. Why the increase in interest? Well, the penny’s dropped that the Coupé is just a bit different and that the 321bhp 3.2-litre engine from the E46 M3 is an absolute beast. We suspect this one sold at the top of its price range due to its Steel Grey paint – just 15 were made for the UK market in this particular hue – and the fact its odometer was only displaying 45,000 miles. A similar vehicle in the same colour recently sold for €149,500 on the Continent, so maybe someone came away with a good investment here despite the seemingly strong price.
