DARLING Downs resident Tarshia Bott said she hit the ceiling when she got the phone call telling her she was a week three winner in Community Newspaper Group’s $30,000 giveaway.

“I literally jumped out of my seat,” Ms Bott said.

Ms Bott plans to put her $1000 prize towards her travel savings.

“I’ve never been overseas, so I want to travel to America, Europe; anywhere on the other side of the world,” she said.

Another winner, Mt Hawthorn resident Helen Griffith, is also using her winnings for travel.

“I’m going on a trip across six countries in Europe in the spring, so I’m going to put the money towards that,” Ms Griffith said.

She said she regularly reads her local newspaper, and other Community Newspaper Group editions from around Perth.

“I enjoy reading about local issues because they’re every day and you can relate to them,” she said.

“I also like to keep up to date with community events.”

Thanks to Spudshed, the $30,000 giveaway is part of Community Newspaper Group’s 30th birthday celebrations.
