Cockburn Gazette - - OPINION -

FURTHER to the report in the November 17 edition headlined “Route of the problem”, I remember reading an article more than 12 months ago stating that Solomon Road in Jandakot was going to be changed to "rectify" the traffic congestion on the eastern side of Cockburn Central.

The traffic congestion during peak hour at the intersection of Tapper Road and Armadale Road is already a nightmare. If they change the light timing to allow more traffic out of this area, the flow-on effect will create gridlock on Armadale Road to the west and east of Tapper Road.

I am still amazed that Armadale Road was not made dual lane to Fraser Road when it was ripped it up and caused delays 12 months ago for the opening of the new housing estate.

I am sure the developers could have covered the cost of that.

Maybe opening the gates on the southern side of Knock Place and allow traffic to flow through the fenced off area and then east along Armadale Road would be a starting point.

I hope the council plans to put an exit out of the car park to the north and join the North Lake flyover… if this ever goes ahead. BRUCE WHITE, Atwell.
