WHILE maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet is important to living a long life, food preparation can sometimes be a struggle.
Someone leaving hospital, suffering after the loss of a partner, during illness and elderly people might find it more difficult but worry about the affordability of prepared meals.
Community First has provided a range of support in aged care, mental health, disability and employment for more than 30 years and is now the first Meals on Wheels provider in the Fremantle/Cockburn area.
Meals on Wheels delivers healthy three-course meals on weekdays and frozen meals on weekends.
The menu changes weekly and government funding is available in many instances.
A range of other aged-care assistance is also available, aimed at keeping people independent in their own home.
These services include home maintenance to ensure homes are secure and safe, transport options and personal support.
