More successful than pictured

A STRONG interest in learning about photography has led to a new program at Fremantle PCYC that proved so successful more children wanted to take part.

Fremantle PCYC youth worker Nikki Wormald said the program came about when a number of the Friday night girls’ program members showed a strong interest and passion for photography.

The ensuing six-week program came about thanks to a $2000 Aboriginal Benefits Foundation grant and the help of Camera Story team Sarah Landro and Jacqueline Warrick.

Ms Wormald said the program was so successful some younger members of the centre wanted to give it a go.

“We teamed up with Camera Story who have worked with about 10 young people looking at taking different photos and creating a story through their photography,” she said.

“They originally targeted the older girls, but the younger kids jumped on board.”

The photographs taken as part of the program will be on display at the Fremantle PCYC until December 21.
