Japanese toys like second family for collector Kate
AN Atwell girl has missed out on being named Australia’s biggest Sylvanian Families fan.
Local girl Kate Stevens has collected more than 200 pieces of Sylvanian Families merchandise over six years.
Among the eight-year-old’s collection are houses, dolls, family sets, furniture sets and extra accessories.
However, even all that wasn’t enough. Tasmanian woman Margaret Chatwin has more than 1000 pieces collected over 27 years and took the top prize. Kate was one of five runners up and received a $100 pack.
Sylvanian Families is a classic Japanese toy line launched 30 years ago. It features plastic animal figurines and accessories. The toys are shipped to more than 40 countries.
