COMEDY ROLE HAS ITS CHALLENGES

Cockburn Gazette - - LIFESTYLE -

LAUGHS will fly when the Planks return to the stage in a sequel to 2014 comedy hit It’s All Greek to Me.

North Fremantle’s Sofie Reidy-Crofts plays Christiana in the Old Mill Theatre production of It’s All Greek to Me Too, which follows the lives of the Planks, a Greek-English family living in London in the swinging ’60s.

Planks patriarch Nicky is in trouble, having had a curse put on him after a relationship he played matchmaker to fell apart.

Reidy-Crofts said she loved playing the driven and welleducated character who finds herself also being set up with one of the Planks.

“Her only current desire is to pursue a career in astronomy but she gets caught up in the family drama when Nicky tries to set her up with his son,” she said.

“The main challenge is learning to speak with a lisp while still being clear so Christiana is understood.

“After hearing about the opportunity to get to know another theatre company and perform with new people, I jumped at the opportunity to audition.”

It’s All Greek to Me Too is at the Old Mill Theatre from February 12 to 27.
