PHARMACISTS are not just retailers at Gateways Amcal Max Pharmacy.

Staff have undergone extensive training so as to offer a wider range of professional services such as the pharmacy’s new sleep apnoea and flu immunisation clinics.

From late March, the store’s pharmacists will be able to offer and administer the influenza vaccine to persons over 18 who do not already qualify for the annual free vaccine under the National Immunisation Program.

No doctor's prescription is required, making it easier and more convenient to protect everyone against the flu.

For those having trouble sleeping, the sleep apnoea clinic requires no referral and can provide you with the Stardust device, a home sleep test.

At only $99, the device records how many events of sleep apnoea (cease breathing for more than 10 secs whilst sleeping) you have and confirm whether or not you snore.

The results are sent to a physician who will then diagnose and make recommendations based on the information provided.
