AUSTRALIANS spent $47 billion in the pre-Christmas trading period from November 15 to December 25.
The figure was up 4.2 per cent for the same period in 2014.
Western Australian’s spent $5.3 billion, up 1.7 per cent from 2014.
Nationally, consumers outspent preChristmas estimates by $200 million.
Australian Retailers Association director Russell Zimmerman said the figure was a great result for the industry.
