Jett makes pitch to win young achiev­ers award

HAMIL­TON Hill res­i­dent Jett Wright is in the run­ning for a Western Aus­tralian Young Achiever Award.

The awards high­light the achieve­ments of peo­ple up to and in­clud­ing 29 years of age.

Jett (16) has been nom­i­nated for the Ca­reer Kick Start Award, which ac­knowl­edges young peo­ple whose pas­sion, drive and will­ing­ness to work hard has helped them cre­ate op­por­tu­ni­ties in their cho­sen ca­reer.

Cat­e­gory win­ners will re­ceive $2000 and a tro­phy, with an over­all win­ner tak­ing home an ad­di­tional $2000.

That money would help Jett fund a trip to the Un­der 19 World Soft­ball Cham­pi­onships in Michi­gan in July.

His long-term dream is to play Ma­jor League Base­ball in the USA.

An­other lo­cal, Au­bin Grove res­i­dent Wil­l­a­belle Ong, was nom­i­nated for an Arts and Fash­ion Award.

Win­ners will be an­nounced tonight.
