Jett makes pitch to win young achievers award
HAMILTON Hill resident Jett Wright is in the running for a Western Australian Young Achiever Award.
The awards highlight the achievements of people up to and including 29 years of age.
Jett (16) has been nominated for the Career Kick Start Award, which acknowledges young people whose passion, drive and willingness to work hard has helped them create opportunities in their chosen career.
Category winners will receive $2000 and a trophy, with an overall winner taking home an additional $2000.
That money would help Jett fund a trip to the Under 19 World Softball Championships in Michigan in July.
His long-term dream is to play Major League Baseball in the USA.
Another local, Aubin Grove resident Willabelle Ong, was nominated for an Arts and Fashion Award.
Winners will be announced tonight.
