Mum proud of cash raised in big swim

AU­BIN Grove res­i­dent Jodie Car­lyon has helped raise more than $22,000 for the McGrath Foun­da­tion.

Ms Cary­lon did so in the lead-up to tack­ling the re­cent Rot­tnest Chan­nel Swim.

She con­quered the 19.7km open wa­ter swim from Cottes- loe Beach to the pop­u­lar tourist is­land in a lit­tle un­der 9½hours.

“It was a long day at the of­fice, but a suc­cess­ful one,” she said.

Ms Cary­lon’s fundrais­ing tally of $22,257 will be do­nated to the McGrath Foun­da­tion, who of­fered her help in the lead-up to and dur­ing her stay in hos­pi­tal when she had lumps re­moved from her breasts.

The mar­ried mother of two even­tu­ally made the call to have a dou­ble mas­tec­tomy last year.
