Schools swim­mers shine at meet

LO­CAL STU­DENTS RULE THE POOL WITH BIG MEDAL HAUL

STU­DENTS from three lo­cal high schools put in strong per­for­mances at last week’s School Sports WA swim­ming car­ni­val.

Lake­land Se­nior High School’s Frances An­der­son won the divi­sion E Year 11 and over cham­pion girl af­ter win­ning the 50m freestyle fin­ish­ing, se­cond in the 50m back­stroke and fifth in the

WA­TER POLO 100m back­stroke.

Also recog­nised were Aaron Haughton (3rd Year 11 and over cham­pion boy), Milla Bick­more (3rd Year 10 cham­pion girl) and Zoey Sch­ef­fer (3rd Year 7 cham­pion girl).

South Fre­man­tle Se­nior High School stu­dents also per­formed strongly in their divi­sion D com­pe­ti­tion, Korey Hill win­ning the Year 9 cham­pion boy af­ter dom­i­nat­ing in the pool, fin­ish­ing five swims in the top three.

Fel­low stu­dents Ni­cholas Hill (3rd Year 10 cham­pion boy) and Ja­cob Buck­land (3rd Year 11 and over cham­pion boy) were also recog­nised.

John Curtin Col­lege of the Arts’ Jamie Luff ex­celled in the di- vi­sion B com­pe­ti­tion, tak­ing out the 50m freestyle, 50m breas­troke, 50m back­stroke, 100m freestyle and com­ing se­cond in the 50m but­ter­fly to be awarded the Year 10 cham­pion boy.

Juli­ette Tonge (3rd Year 7 cham­pion girl) and Moira Barker (3rd Year 9 cham­pion girl) also per­formed well.
