Res­i­dents keen for ex­pert ad­vice on stay­ing safe

OR­GAN­IS­ERS of a com­mu­nity event at Hop­bush Park say they were blown away by the num­ber of peo­ple who showed up.

Con­nect­ing South Lake’s (CSL) San­dra Pflug­macher said they were shocked when more than 500 peo­ple – 200 more than an­tic­i­pated – came to the safety-themed event.

The event was aimed at pro­vid­ing the lo­cal com­mu­nity with in­for­ma­tion about safety mea­sures they could im­ple­ment.

In­for­ma­tion was pro­vided by lo­cal police, Neigh­bour­hood Watch, the City of Cock­burn and the SES, among oth­ers.

Fam­ily en­ter­tain­ment in­cluded a maze, an­i­mal farm and face-painting.

The maze was a pop­u­lar at­trac­tion at the South Lake event.
