Nicholls celebrates despite weekend loss
FREMANTLE Hockey Club’s Paul Nicholls was still able to celebrate despite his team’s loss to UWA over the weekend.
Nicholls walked out on to the field in the black-and-white for the 300th time, just a week after fellow club player Rhys Spencer notched up game 400 in premier 2 division.
It was not the fairytale game Nicholls was hoping for though, as UWA out-muscled the Magpies to take out the game 3-1. But it was a happier weekend for Fremantle’s top-level women, who remain undefeated in 2016 after a close 2-1 win over Old Guildfordian’s Mundaring.
They sit top of the ladder as the only team to have won the first two games.
The men take on YMCC at Lemnos Field on Sunday, while the women play Rockingham at Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
Paul Nicholls played his 300th game for Freo.
