SCULPTORS ON SHOW ART PRIZE FINALISTS ANNOUNCED
SIXTEEN finalists have been announced for this year’s Bankwest Art Prize, which showcases the talents of WA sculptors.
Curator Sandra Murray said nearly 60 applicants had submitted works, which were shortlisted to 16 finalists: Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Claire Bailey, Paul Caporn, Mikaela Castledine, Peter Dailey, Kevin Draper, Susan Flavell, Tarryn Gill, Paul Kaptein, Theo Koning, Lou Lambert, Angela McHarrie, Geoff Overheu, Mark Parfitt, Alistair Rowe and Andrew Sunley Smith.
Murray said the high standard from this year’s finalists was testament to the remarkable prowess of sculpture in WA.
“I am thrilled with the selection of finalists for this year, ranging from well-established artists to mid-career and emerging sculptors,” she said.
“The contrast between experience and innovation will add to the excitement of the prize and I look forward to what promises to be a dynamic and captivating exhibition.”
The Bankwest Art Gallery at 300 Murray Street, Perth, will host a public exhibition showcasing all finalist artworks from November 22.
