A TRANSPERTH bus was left with $10,000 damage after being attacked in Yangebup. Police said a large group of youths flagged down the bus, which was heading to the Cockburn train station, on Yangebup Road about 10.45pm on April 23. When the bus stopped at the intersection of North Lake Road and Osprey Drive, one of the youths activated the emergency door release, which some of the passengers used to get off the bus. As the driver moved through the intersection, a rock was thrown at the front windscreen, shattering the glass. More rocks were then thrown at the vehicle while those inside kicked at the windows, with some even using the emergency hammer to cause more damage. The youths then fled.
