ARC to be ‘among best in country’

Cockburn Gazette - - NEWS -

COCKBURN ARC is half way to completion.

During a site visit to the $109m recreation facility in Cockburn Central West last week, Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said the project was tracking well.

“We’re approaching the 50 per cent completion mark and as we can see before us now, the ground is looking very good indeed,” he said.

“So many people are looking forward to it opening.

“We’re not too far away – around March next year.”

Mr Howlett said the partnership between the federal and state governments, the Fremantle Dockers, Curtin and the community to build the facility put it among the best in the country.

“Certainly, at around $110 million it puts us in the ball park for the whole of Australia as being one of the better community facilities available for all to use,” he said.

The centre will include a heated indoor pool, a 50m outdoor heated pool, three specialty pools, three water slides, sport courts and a café, among other features.

The Fremantle Dockers will also be based at the site.
