Univer­sity of­fers her­itage talks and walk­ing tours

LEARN about the dif­fer­ent facets of Fre­man­tle his­tory at the Univer­sity of Notre Dame dur­ing the up­com­ing Her­itage Fes­ti­val.

With a his­tory as rich as Fre­man­tle’s, there is al­ways a fas­ci­nat­ing story res­i­dents and visi­tors alike are yet to hear. The univer­sity will hold a num­ber of lec­tures and interactiv­e walk­ing tours to help peo­ple with a thirst to learn more about key lo­cal per­son­al­i­ties, his­tor­i­cal land­marks and life-chang­ing events.

Univer­sity of Notre Dame pro­fes­sor Deb­o­rah Gare said the Her­itage Fes­ti­val was a sig­nif­i­cant com­mu­nity event on the univer­sity’s cal­en­dar.

“We delve into the life and times of one of WA’s old­est com­mu­ni­ties to en­sure its sto­ries live on for many gen­er­a­tions to come,” she said.

“Our ex­cit­ing pro­gram for 2016 brings the vi­brant, hu­man his­to­ries of Fre­man­tle to life.

“We hope this en­cour­ages ev­ery­one to con­tinue this great art of sto­ry­telling, shar­ing the tales of this vi­brant city and the per­son­al­i­ties that have con­trib­uted its longevity.”
