Cockburn dealt a reality check
JUST days after discovering they will play the Melbourne Knights in the FFA Cup Round of 32, Cockburn City Soccer Club received a reality check in the form of a 3-0 drubbing to the Stirling Lions on Saturday.
It was not a great day for the local team, unable to find the back of the net themselves while the defensive line failed to stop three goals going the other way.
The scoreline flattered Cockburn, with Stirling missing a number of scoreable goals to extend their lead further.
The frustration showed among the players, with Harry O’Brien, Nathan De Abreu and Blake Adams all shown yellow cards.
Cockburn coach Scott Miller said it was a performance to forget.
“I thought we were reactionary today, I thought we were a bit intimidated,” he said.
Cockburn next play ladder-leaders Inglewood United at Dalmatinac Park from 3pm on July 9.
