Perry Lakes ends Cockburn’s run
BRYTON HOBBS LEADS CHARGE WITH 28 POINTS
PERRY LAKES ended Cockburn’s 10-game winning streak with a 103-91 victory at Wally Hagan Stadium on Friday night.
Bryton Hobbs led the Hawks for points with 28.
Najee Lane scored 27 points and made six assists in the loss.
The Cougars atoned on Saturday with a 113-95 win over the Goldfields Giants at Wally Hagan Stadium. Marcus Goode was back to his best with 37 points, with Lane impressive again with 26.
The Cougars maintained top spot with the win, although Joondalup does have a game in hand.
Lakeside was too strong for the South West Slammers at the Lakeside Recreation Centre on Friday night.
The hosts won 96-87, with skipper Daniel Alexander scoring 38 points. It was Lakeside’s third straight win, although it remains three games outside a finals berth.
In the women’s division Lakeside pummelled the Slammers.
Ali Schwagmeyer, as she has been all season, was on fire scoring 33 points at close to 70 per cent from the field.
She had support on the scoring front from Ashleigh Grant (16 points) and Devanny King (14) as the hosts powered home 103 to 82.
Lakeside moved to fifth after its third straight win.
Cockburn is outside the top eight after a second straight loss.
Candace Williams scored 20 points but the Cougars were no match for the Hawks who won 69 to 55.
Deanna Smith scored 18 points for the Hawks.
