PAULINE Hanson is back, bigger than ever. Twenty years after she burst onto our television screens warning we were about to be swamped by Asians, she is back to take on the Muslim threat in our midst. She wants a royal commission into Islam. What a ridiculous suggestion. Muslims have lived in Australia since Afghan camel drivers arrived in the 1860s. According to the 2011 census, there were 476,000 Muslims in Australia. What conflict have we had that would warrant spending millions of dollars on a royal commission? I think Ms Hanson strikes a chord with more Australians when she speaks about not selling off land to foreign buyers. Certainly she will wield a lot more power this time, thanks to three seats in the Senate. Ms Hanson was elected on a simple platform. Will she be able to handle the complexities of an extremely diverse parliament?
