Miller top choice for draft

HAYLEY Miller has made his­tory af­ter be­com­ing the Fremantle Dock­ers’ first se­lec­tion in the in­au­gu­ral AFL Women’s draft.

The 20-year-old Curtin Univer­sity stu­dent, a de­fender with the Coastal Ti­tans, will play for the Dock­ers in next year’s com­pe­ti­tion af­ter she was se­lected at pick four in Wed­nes­day’s draft.

Miller played un­der Fremantle coach Michelle Cowan in an ex­hi­bi­tion match re­cently and said she was ex­cited to be given an op­por­tu­nity to learn more from her at the Dock­ers.

“As a coach she un­der­stands her play­ers and knows how to get the best out of ev­ery­one,” she said.

“Ev­ery ex­pe­ri­ence I’ve had in be­ing coached by her has been a pos­i­tive one.

“I get to stay where my friends and my fam­ily are and do some­thing I love and play foot­ball. I’m re­ally stoked to stay in Perth.”

Hay­ley Miller will play for the Fre­man­tle Dock­ers in the in­au­gu­ral AFL Womens com­pe­ti­tion.
