Cockburn Gazette - - OPINION -

IT’s pleasing to read that more people are travelling on the ferry to South Perth.

I was also pleased that a small tourist ferry is now operating from Elizabeth Quay to Claisebrook.

I have always been an advocate of using our river for passenger ferries for pleasure and an alternative way to get to the city and sporting venues.

A good start would be a ferry service to Point Walter every hour with connecting buses from Fremantle and the suburbs.

Point Walter is a very a pleasant part of the river to visit with its safe, protected sandy beach and lots of shady trees.

Tourism and transport are very important to our state – let’s use our river more.

FRANK GRANGER, Applecross.
