Char­ity ride raises $4m

MORE than $4 mil­lion was raised for the Harry Perkins In­sti­tute of Med­i­cal Re­search dur­ing Oc­to­ber’s Ride to Con­quer Can­cer.

More than 900 rid­ers helped raise the funds, which will be used to sup­port can­cer re­search.

Lo­cal team the Coogee Cy­cling Crew helped raise $30,600.

Harry Perkins In­sti­tute di­rec­tor Peter Leed­man said he was de­lighted with the sup­port.

“Thanks to the funds raised through the ride, our in­ter­na­tion­ally renowned re­search teams, doc­tors and clin­i­cians are de­liv­er­ing the lat­est break­throughs and ad­vanc­ing health ben­e­fits, which re­sult in im­proved health of the com­mu­nity,” he said.

The an­nual ride has raised more than $23.5 mil­lion in the past five years.
